Michigan State jumps to No. 12 in latest AP Poll

After squeezing past Kentucky in the Champions Classic on Tuesday, 86-77, followed by a narrow two-point victory over Villanova on Friday night, Michigan State men’s hoops has entered the AP Poll at No. 12.

MSU sits behind Big Ten opponent Indiana which claims No. 11 in this week’s ranking. Other conference team’s making an appearance this week include Illinois at No. 16, Maryland at No. 23, Purdue at No. 24 and Iowa just making the cut at No. 25. 

Kentucky has moved down significantly from No. 4  to No. 15, following losses to MSU and No. 6 Gonzaga in the past week. Villanova is no longer ranked.

North Carolina remains at No. 1 for the third consecutive week. Alabama appears slightly behind MSU at No. 18. MSU will face the Crimson Tide Thursday at 10:30 p.m. in the first game of the Phil Knight Invitational.

MSU is also ranked at No. 16 in the most recent Student Media Poll as well.
