The East Lansing area has such a large variety of brunch options that choosing a place to eat can become overwhelming. Michigan State University students in the dorms may be looking for something within walking distance to campus, whereas older students with cars might be looking to venture off the beaten path for something new.

Whether you’re looking right in downtown East Lansing, or down the road in Lansing or Okemos, you are bound to find a brunch that could surprise you.

People’s Kitchen

This eclectic restaurant was previously open for brunch just two days a week, but due to popular demand, the Lansing establishment announced on Oct. 6 that they would be extending brunch service to five days a week.

People’s Kitchen's diverse brunch menu takes some traditional breakfast food and puts a unique twist on them giving you all the comfort of a familiar brunch with enticing new flavors and combinations. In addition to the different dishes, the restaurant also had a wide variety of brunch cocktails and spiked coffee beverages.

The colorful industrial building is the perfect spot to take a break with some friends and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

People’s Kitchen is located at 2722 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing, and is open for brunch Wednesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For Crepe's Sake

Located just steps away from campus, this recent addition to downtown East Lansing has quickly become a hot brunch spot.

The restaurant was originally opened back in 2014, but was located in Lansing before they moved to the heart of East Lansing.

This French-inspired crepe restaurant offerers both sweet and savory crepes for their patrons, as well as Belgian waffle options if crepes aren't for you.

The crêperie and café is perfect to grab a quick bite to eat or even a cozy place to grab a coffee and get a little bit of studying done.

For Crepe’s Sake is located 211 M.A.C. Ave. in East Lansing and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Conrad's Grill

Not a typical brunch spot, but Conrad’s is an East Lansing staple.

The food is everything a drunk college student could ask for at 2 a.m. and the filling and greasy nature of their breakfast wraps make it the perfect hangover cure.

Since 2007, students have taken comfort in the fried food and wraps from Conrad’s and have eaten it at all hours of the day.

“They have a variety of stuff,” social relations and policy sophomore Cece Wolcott said. “Perfect breakfast (and) lunch options.”

Conrad’s Grill is located at 1219 E. Grand River Ave. in East Lansing and is open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.

Anna’s House

This retro-50's diner is located in Okemos and offers a fun environment to go along with its classic American breakfast options.

This family-owned eatery has been a West Michigan staple since 2002, and now has nine locations across the state.

The current CEO of the chain has dietary restrictions, and because of that, Anna’s House has a large menu that includes many different options for their vegan, dairy-free and gluten-free customers.

The brightly colored interior makes for a fun experience from the moment you walk through the doors to the moment you leave the building.

Anna’s House is located at 1753 W. Grand River Rd. in Okemos and is open seven days a week, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Beggar’s Banquet

This East Lansing restaurant has been a staple in the community since 1973, and its close proximity to campus makes it very easy for MSU students to enjoy their delicious food.

Beggars Banquet’s website said it takes comfort food that many people know and love and gives them a “twist of elegance.”

“I do love Beggar’s Banquet … they have a variety of different foods. It's not all just like normal breakfast food,” microbiology senior Kyleen Hall said. “They have a bunch of different types of things that you can try, and I think it's fun to go there and try to get a different thing every time.”

The restaurant and saloon create a warm and inviting atmosphere, which makes it the perfect destination for any occasion.

Beggar’s Banquet is located at 218 Abbot Rd. and is open for brunch Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Goodfellas Bagel Deli

This brand-new edition to downtown East Lansing has been making a name for itself in neighboring Lansing for the past few years.

Goodfellas is known for its wide variety of incredible gourmet bagels made entirely with fresh ingredients and is the perfect place to grab a quick bite on the go.

The new location makes it easier for MSU students without cars, like political science sophomore Lily Wenkel, to enjoy the delicious bagel spot.

“Whenever I'm like craving any sort of lunch, I usually go there,” Wenkel said. “The location is really good. You can walk there from campus, so it's in a very accessible location for all students.”

Goodfellas Bagel Deli is located at 235 Albert Street and is open seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Thursday through Saturday, they reopen from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. for late-night dining.
