The Big Ten Conference released the 2023 football schedule Wednesday afternoon. Michigan State will begin the season with three straight non-conference games at home (Central Michigan, Richmond, Washington), before opening Big Ten play against Maryland at Spartan Stadium.

The team will take on Iowa, Rutgers, Minnesota, Ohio State and Indiana on the road, while Michigan, Nebraska and Penn State matchups will take place in East Lansing. The Spartans will have their bye week during week six.

This schedule also marks the first time in two years that the Michigan-Michigan State matchup won’t take place the last weekend of October. Instead, the game will be played on Oct. 21 in East Lansing.

Michigan State picked up its first conference win two weeks ago with a double overtime win over Wisconsin.
