“Those are errors that we will come back to tomorrow as a team and (we will) work to fix to clean that up,” Kozal said.

Although it was upsetting to Kozal, the goal did not affect the result of the game in any way as it was scored after the Spartans put up four straight in the first 80 minutes. 

Four different Spartans put their names on the scoresheet as graduate student defender Ruby Diodati, graduate student forward Camryn Evans, sophomore forward Jordyn Wickes and junior forward Ranya Senhaji carved up the Dartmouth defense throughout the match. 

Senhaji, a South Carolina transfer, also added an assist to her stat line to complement a beautiful volley goal that she was waiting on the back post for. 

“The ball went out to Emmy (freshman midfielder Emerson Sargeant) on the right side and the whole back post was open – so I felt like if I stayed on the back post and kept myself open that if she played it to me I was ready to score it,” Senhaji said.

Senhaji did play a big part in the win, but she knows that it was a team effort that allowed them to add this game to the win column. 

“We were playing such a good game and we were keeping most of the possession and coming into the game I knew we had to score somehow so I feel like it was a team effort,” Senhaji said. 

“Both goals that we scored while I was in were two really good goals and I think as a team we played really well to get the win that we did.”

Although the defensive unit performed almost as well as the offensive unit, Head Coach Jeff Hosler knows that there are things that need to be worked on.

“The lesson we learned is, when we talk about ball security going forward we can’t just lose the ball in the middle of the field, especially against a good counter team like Dartmouth is,” Hosler said.

The Spartans can not afford to make these mistakes this weekend as they will head to Arkansas to face the 11th ranked Razorbacks, but Hosler is proud of his squad’s past few days, and game planned throughout the week with the game this Sunday at 1 p.m. in mind.

“I give our girls a lot of credit for staying present, just living in the moment Tuesday and Wednesday and approaching this game with a lot of professionalism and executing the way we needed to,” Hosler said.

“Through that, we played a lot of players. A lot of the players that we are really going to rely and depend upon on Sunday were able to play minimal minutes today, so they should have fresh legs and we will give them our best effort.”
