As of April 5, face masks will no longer be required for multiple City of East Lansing commissions and public meetings. These meetings include the City Council of East Lansing, as well as East Lansing’s boards and commissions.

According to Civic Alerts in East Lansing, the face mask requirement was previously set to drop on March 14 in most East Lansing buildings, before the repeal was pushed back to April 5.

While masking inside these public buildings will no longer be required, people are still encouraged to mask at their own discretion and comfort in crowds.

Since March 22, Ingham County has seen 156 new cases of COVID-19 with 23 cases currently in hospice at Sparrow and McLaren hospital – a significant dip in cases as COVID-19 continues to slowly decline in East Lansing.

Masking requirements will still be in place in certain buildings as an exception. Some of these public events including the 2022 Children’s Cultural Concert Series, the School Age Programs from the East Lansing Department of Parks, Recreation and Arts and Break Care. Another exception will be the East Lansing Public Library’s children's events.

For more information, stay up-to-date on CDC guidelines, as well as checking Michigan.gov for COVID-19 updates and regulations in the state.
