What I hope from MGK and Megan Fox's wedding

February 4, 2022

"The tale of two outcasts and star crossed lovers caught in the throes of the torrid, solar flare of a romance featuring: feverish obsession."

You may think this is the opening line to an early 2010 vampire romance novel, but it's actually the Instagram caption of a former Transformers star posing with her rock star boyfriend, wearing next to nothing and pointing a gun towards a ... certain region of his body on the cover of GQ.

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly have been making headlines for the last year, whether the public wants to hear every detail or not about their blood-stained, goth relationship. However, the most recent headline made the most waves: they were engaged.

Everyone was able to capture the moment with them on Megan's Instagram from multiple angles even though MGK claimed he filmed it on his phone on top of a cup. Social media reveled in watching MGK dressed like a Lady Footlocker employee get down on one knee under the Banyan tree where they "asked for magic" together, which may or may not have been a euphemism for them selling their souls. Megan did confirm that they did drink each other's blood afterwards, only further explaining why some people should not have control of their own social media.

Kelly sealed the deal with an emerald ring that he claimed was designed to hurt her if she ever tried to take it off because "love is pain." This was a large red flag for most of social media because it begs the question: why?

"The whole you can’t take off the engagement ring is kind of scary, what if I have to watch my hands or … go to the bathroom," Impact FM's Entertainment Editorial Assistant Norene Bassin said.

Bassin was also the first to congratulate Megan because she seems to be happy unlike in her past relationships, yet the speed of their engagement caught them off guard, almost as much as the continued use of blood imagery throughout their love story.

With their regular outings in public feeling completely off the rails, people are ready to step into the world of their wedding planning, and while they haven't released any details yet, I like to use my imagination, which is something they don't leave to their audience very often when it comes to their relationship, filling us in with painful detail.

Let me set the very scary scene: all black. They are getting married in a void, with slight touches of red for the drama. Megan is almost expected to wear an all black dress to fit her My Chemical Romance aesthetic, but economics junior Audrey Short has a different idea, following what she already believes about their manic pixie dream-esque relationship.

"I feel like its expected for her to wear a black dress, so I think she’s going to wear a different color," Short said.

Bassin had their own thoughts on the attire as well. They speculated that MGK would also wear an all black suit, but with a red tie, stained with both of their blood. I truly think this could be the fashion event of the year, for people inspired by Hot Topic couture.

While Short also believes there will be some feminine touches to the wedding because the occasion calls for such, I think that the guests may have to sit in a dungeon setting. If not that, I'm picturing more a nightmare, specifically the nightmare that Bella has in "Twilight" the night before her wedding to Edward. I also would not put it past them that if they decide to have children, they will reproduce something that looks like the CGI baby that gave audiences nightmares from Twilight as well.

For the flower arrangement, I'm thinking roses. Now if you think that sounds too normal, it doesn't end there. They are actually all thorns, no flower. I am feeling nervous for that flower girl.

Other MSU students had very specific views of what the wedding could be. Political theory and constitutional democracy junior Rachel Vinarcik envisioned metal touches.

"I feel like the wedding cake is going to be spiky and her dress is going to be chainmail … and her heels are going to cut her feet," Vinarcik said.

Bassin also had vision of the couple being connected to nature at the couple's wedding. Instead of releasing doves when their vows are sealed, they believe the couple will release crows. They also pictured the ring bearer as an actual live bear carrying the rings that will bind them forever.

For the final touch of decoration, I think there should be a large banner of the first words they claimed they ever spoke to each other: "You smell like weed ... I am weed." So romantic.

Beyond this sure to be event of the year, many people are still skeptical as to what the future holds for this whirlwind of a couple.

"Based on the foundations of our relationship … being we are both insane like Harley and the Joker in real life, that seems like not the soundest thing to set up on,” Bassin said.

Vinarcik claimed that even the couples the public think will be together forever in the spotlight like Brad and Angelina sometimes split, leading her to believe that with the chaotic energy of MGK and Megan Fox, the couple may also meet a more predictable end. She also hopes for them to find their privacy so the end doesn't come sooner than later.

"I think they might settle down after they’re married because the shock is over," Vinarcik said.

Even though they are very different from other couples in Hollywood, a few think the only thing that makes them different that they think they're different, and succeeded in convincing the public that they're different. Short explained their relationship as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds on steroids.

While their love has been off-putting, the public has now expected it and almost embraces their weirdness, knowing that every interview will produce more internet content that we can retweet and laugh about with our friends.

“They can express their love however they want but the continued use of blood imagery and drinking each other’s blood is really, no matter which way you slice it, a little weird," Bassin said.
