Michigan State women’s soccer standout Ava Cook was selected sixth in the second round, 18th overall, of the National Women’s Soccer League’s draft by the Chicago Red Stars.

Cook transferred to Michigan State from Grand Valley State this offseason, following first-year MSU Head Coach Jeff Hosler. She immediately became a catalyst for the Spartans and led the team in goals (seven), assists (three) and shots (77). Cook was named second-team All-Big Ten for her efforts.

Dani Stephan, Cook’s teammate at MSU, is also in the NWSL draft pool and could potentially be drafted.
