The State of Michigan Court of Appeals reversed convictions against ex-MSU gymnastics coach Kathie Klages on Dec. 21, ruling no evidence supported that Klages's false statement was material to the criminal investigation conducted in 2018.

Klages was previously charged with making an allegedly false statement to a peace officer investigating MSU's knowledge of the sexual abuse in the Larry Nassar case.

She was sentenced to 90 days in Ingham County Jail followed by 18 months of probation on Aug. 4. Her probation period ended early on June 29 due to good behavior.

"We are aware of the ruling today from the Michigan Court of Appeals," MSU spokesperson Emily Guerrant said in a statement. "While there might be actions continuing through our legal system, MSU is focused on supporting anyone impacted by relationship violence, sexual misconduct or stalking in our community. We encourage those impacted to consider the state of Michigan’s confidential hotline (1-855-Voices4) or MSU’s Center for Survivors."
