On Oct. 30, a shooting occurred just before 8 p.m at 3900 block of Halter Lane. The bodies of a man and a woman were found in a home.

Steve Gonzalez, deputy chief of the East Lansing Police Department, called it a "dual-death investigation."

“When the officers arrived, they found two individuals deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. I stress the word apparent because we do not have final autopsy results back yet,” Gonzalez said.

Gonzalez said the department is investigating the incident as a homicide, but also a murder-suicide.

"We do not have the exact circumstances of how the two were shot," he said. "We do not have anybody in custody and we are not currently looking for any suspects."

In addition, ELPD also responded to a shooting around 2 a.m. on Sunday near the downtown East Lansing area. The incident occurred on M.A.C Avenue and Albert Street in a parking lot.

“When the officers arrived, they found one individual with multiple gunshot wounds, and she was transported to the hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries,” Gonzalez said.

The individual is alive, but her prognosis is unknown, he said.

ELPD has identified a suspect in the case, and the location of that person is known. The suspect is not, however, in custody.
