Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and community. If you are in need of a warm Thanksgiving meal, there are several places in Lansing that offer them to those in need at no cost. 

Wednesday, November 24, 2021

  • Salvation Army 

710 West Jolly Rd.

4:00 to 4:45 p.m. and 5:15 to 6:00 p.m.

Registration Required: YES, for dine-in guests

The Salvation Army will be offering both sit-down and takeout meals to those who need them on Wednesday. There will be two dinner shifts and sit-down meals require pre-registration. Takeout meals are available regardless of registration. Masks are required for the event. In order to claim a seat, call 517-484-4424.

  • The People’s Church

200 West Grand River Rd.

5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Registration Required: NO

The People’s Church offers a free, prepackaged community dinner every Wednesday. Pickup is available at their Northwest entrance.

  • Blondie’s Barn

5640 Marsh Rd., Haslett

12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

Registration Required: NO

Blondie’s Barn will be serving pre-packaged Thanksgiving dinners in their parking lot. Masks are required and donations are accepted. 

  • Cristo Rey Community Center

12:00 to 2:00 p.m.

A traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pie, etc. will be provided for takeout. Registration, ID and economic checks are not required. 

  • St. John’s Lutheran Church

511 E. Sturgis St., St. Johns, Michigan

Registration Required: NO

Worship Service at 11 a.m. Celebration from 12:00 to 3 p.m.

St. John’s Lutheran will be offering a community Thanksgiving celebration complete with food, activities and football. There will be a community-style dinner, with takeout options available upon request. 

  • St. Gerard Parish

4437 W. Willow Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917 

Registration Required: YES, call 517-323-2379

Delivery starting at 12 p.m.

St. Gerard Parish is offering free, prepackaged meals to be delivered upon request. 450 meals will be available. 

  • New Hope Community Health Center

430 N. Larch St, Lansing MI 48912

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 

Registration Required: NO
