The start times for six games in Michigan State football's upcoming season have been announced after ESPN, Big Ten Network and Fox announced the schedule for the first three weeks of the season for the Big Ten.
Start times for 6 MSU football games announced
The Spartans' season will begin on at 9 p.m. Sept. 3 on the road against Northwestern. This will resume MSU’s recent tradition of beginning their season with a Friday night game and will take on one of the two teams that MSU beat last year.
For the non-conference, Michigan State will take on Youngstown State at home on Sept. 11 at noon, the University of Miami on Sept. 18 at noon and Western Kentucky on Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
The final two games of the schedule release are both Big Ten matchups, Rutgers and Indiana. MSU will play the Scarlet Knights on Oct. 9 at noon in Piscataway and the Hoosiers on Oct. 16 in Bloomington.
Michigan State will have four road games in the first seven games of the season against tough opponents, including three Big Ten matchups. The Spartans were set to play Miami in 2020, but the game was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new-look roster and coach Mel Tucker will have ample opportunity to play quality opponents to begin the year as three of the teams — Indiana, Miami and Northwestern — had at least six wins in the condensed 2020 season.
