Carr projects to be one of the few receivers on the Spartans’ roster with the type of size Carr has after the departure of Tre’von Morgan via the transfer portal to Kentucky. The receiver room will be a deep one for the Spartans with veterans Jayden Reed and Jalen Nailor with talented depth like Carr now in the fold, something that could propel the offense to new heights.

“I think it helps us tremendously,” Michigan State offensive coordinator Jay Johnson said during the offseason. “I really like our position there and the way those guys have come along with coach Hawk (Courtney Hawkins) has been good, that's gonna be huge with those guys there. I think it would definitely benefit them because those guys are at a new level, they understand things better.”

The portal has been a huge asset for the Spartans this last year, adding a wealth of players including most recently another wide receiver in Louisville’s Christian Fitzpatrick, who’s also another player with a lot of size at 6-foot-4 to add onto a smaller but fast wide receiver room.

“We treat it (transfer portal) similar to an NFL personnel department, where you got the pro side, you got the college side and that's how we do it,” Tucker said. “We have someone that monitors the portal and sits there and hits refresh every 30 minutes.”

The Spartans and Tucker will roll out some of their new talents via the transfer portal on April 24 in the annual spring game and we’ll likely see Carr this fall when they open against Northwestern on Sept. 4.
