Sparrow Health System will begin distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to those 70 and older and other members of the 1B vaccination prioritization group on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at the Sparrow Laboratories Drive-Thru Services site located at 3131 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing.

All patients must register prior to receiving the vaccine and can find directions to do so on Sparrow’s online vaccine information resource.

In Phase 1B, which opened on Jan. 11, individuals aged 70 and older, first responders, corrections workers, K-12 teachers and childcare workers became eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

As vaccine supply is short in Ingham County, and nationwide, the frequency and extent to which Sparrow will continue public vaccinations will depend on the weekly supply of doses provided by the government. Sparrow has distributed nearly 12,000 doses of the vaccine and has received a total of 22,600. An estimated 83,000 people are currently eligible to become vaccinated.
