Michigan State women’s basketball has postponed their matchup against rival Michigan on Monday due to COVID-19 related issues within the program, the MSU Athletic Department announced Friday afternoon in a release.

At this time, no decision has been made on games beyond Jan. 18 and both teams are looking to reschedule later in this season. According to the release, further updates will be provided.

"No decision has been made on games beyond Jan. 18. Both schools will work with the Big Ten Conference office to identify potential rescheduling options later this season," MSU Athletics said in the release.

Michigan State women’s basketball most recently had postponed their matchup against Illinois last Thursday due to COVID-19 issues within the program along with the men’s team who had three positive COVID-19 tests within their program, including players Steven Izzo and Mady Sissoko, and was forced to postpone their matchups against Iowa and Indiana.

At this time, it is unclear whether than have been any positive COVID-19 tests within the women’s basketball program.

This is the third game the Spartans will look to reschedule after missing a trip to Columbus to face Ohio State on New year’s Eve due to issues within Ohio State's program. The Spartans' next opportunity to play and break their two-game losing streak will come at home against Indiana on Jan. 21 in East Lansing.
