After a week in which they traveled to and from Virginia for their matchup to get a postponement, the No. 4 Michigan State men's basketball team (5-0) will host Oakland on Sunday. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m.
The matchup will conclude the Spartans' non-conference slate, unless they host another opponent in place of Virginia later this week, which head coach Tom Izzo expressed as a possibility to reporters on Friday.
The Oakland Golden Grizzlies will be looking for their first win of the season after starting 0-6. Oakland almost upset Michigan on Nov. 29 when they forced the Wolverines into overtime. The Grizzlies stayed competitive until dropping that matchup 81-71.
The Grizzlies are led by junior guard Jalen Moore who averages 14.8 points, scoring a season-high 21 in that game against Michigan.
And aside from their first win of the season, the Grizzlies will be looking for their first win against the Spartans as well. MSU leads the all-time series against Oakland 18-0, however, three of the last eight matchups have been decided with a margin under 10.
Following the game, the Spartans will begin Big Ten play at Northwestern on Dec. 20.
