Michigan State women's basketball announced its schedule for the 2020-2021 season Monday afternoon. The schedule features five non-conference games and 20 Big Ten games, two more than last year.
The season will tip off in just four days as the Spartans will take on St. Francis (PA) on Friday Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. The other four non-conference opponents include Detroit, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Oakland. All five non-conference games will be played at the Breslin Center.
The Spartans will open up Big Ten play Dec. 9 on the road against Minnesota at Williams Arena. The first Big Ten home game will be three days later against Iowa.
Three of the Spartans first 20 Big Ten games will be played before the New Year including a New Years Eve matchup at Ohio State. The 17 other Big Ten games will be played after the New Year with a home game rounding out the schedule against Wisconsin on either March 5 or 6.
The schedule is spaced out with about three or four days between each game. The biggest break for MSU will be early in the season when the Spartans have eight days between games against Ohio State (Dec. 22) and Minnesota (Dec. 31).
The Spartans biggest homestand is a four-game homestand between Dec. 12 and Dec. 22.
Michigan State head coach Suzy Merchant took to Twitter Monday to express her excitment of finally having a game schedule.
