MSU to host NCAA Men's Golf Regional Championship in 2023

October 15, 2020

Michigan State University will host one of the six NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regional Championships in 2023. The championship will be held at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Michigan.

MSU was supposed to host the 2020 Regional Championship this past May, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are excited to partner with the Greater Lansing Sports Authority to host the NCAA regional championships for men’s golf,” Michigan State Athletic Director Bill Beekman said in a press release. “We were slated to host the men’s regional this past spring before it was canceled, so we are appreciative of the opportunity to host once again. Golf is very popular throughout the state, including two great programs here at MSU, and we look forward to putting on another outstanding event.”

This announcement came as part of the largest NCAA announcement of host sites ever as 86 different championships were announced Wednesday.

The bidding process for these championships began in August of 2019. The four sports not included in the announcement were Division I baseball, Division I football, Division I softball and Division III women’s ice hockey.

Little Caesars Arena in Detroit was awarded a men's basketball regional during the 2024 NCAA Tournament. There was hope LCA would be awarded a Frozen Four after the 2020 one in Detroit was cancelled due to the pandemic, but that did not happen.

Also included in the announcement Wednesday were the host sites of the golf final championships from 2023 to 2026. Arizona State University will host the 2023 finals in Scottsdale, Arizona at Grayhawk Golf Club. The next three finals from 2024 to 2026 will all be hosted by the University of Texas at Austin in Carlsbad, California at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
