Trick or Treat, Spartans? This treat of a playlist will keep you in the Halloween spirit all month long.

The State News made you a playlist for each spooky day of October, getting progressively more in the Halloween spirit.

  1. My Family - from “The Addams Family” - Migos, KAROL G., Snoop Dogg, Rock Mafia

  2. I Write Sins Not Tragedies - Panic! At The Disco

  3. Heathens - Twenty One Pilots

  4. Scooby-Doo (Scooby-Doo Theme Song) - Ohio Express

  5. Cannibal - Kesha

  6. You Should See Me in a Crown - Billie Eilish

Starting off this list is “My Family,” which adds "The Addams Family" theme song right to the beginning. It starts to get you in the Halloween spirit but is still a newer song with more recent artists. “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” and “Heathens” are songs that give off spooky ‘vibes.’ “Scooby-Doo (Scooby-Doo Theme Song)” was added as a little memory from our childhood because nothing screams Halloween like our favorite crime-fighting gang. “Cannibal” is fun and upbeat while also being a trendy TikTok song. While “You Should See Me in a Crown” adds a little empowerment to the mix.

  1. Howlin’ for You - The Black Keys

  2. Demons - Imagine Dragons

  3. Poor Unfortunate Souls - From “The Little Mermaid” / Soundtrack Version - Pat Carroll

  4. Toxic - Britney Spears

  5. (You’re The) Devil In Disguise - Elvis Presley

  6. Emperor’s New Clothes - Panic! At The Disco

“Howlin’ for You” adds rock to this playlist while also being a prominent song in media and sports. “Demons” is a song about inner demons, so Halloween is the perfect time to play it. “Poor Unfortunate Souls - From “The Little Mermaid” / Soundtrack Version” is another blast from the past sung by Ursula, whom Pat Carroll voices, and adds a little Disney to the playlist. “Toxic” brings a fun party song into the mix to play at your socially distanced Halloween party. In “(You’re The) Devil In Disguise” Elvis talks about disguises, and this month will be filled with costumes. The Panic! At The Disco “Emperor’s New Clothes” adds some more loud party songs and is about taking power.

  1. E.T. - Katy Perry

  2. The Boogie Man - The Jackson 5

  3. I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow

  4. Black Magic - Little Mix

  5. Jump In the Line - Harry Belafonte

  6. Disturbia - Rihanna

With “E.T.” you get some extra-terrestrial energy and an alien could be a fun costume idea. “The Boogie Man” adds The Jackson 5 and R&B/Soul. “I Want Candy,” “Black Magic” and “Jump In the Line” bring a happier mood to the playlist. Lastly, “Disturbia” paints a picture of a scary “thief in the night.”

  1. Poor Jack - Plain White T’s

  2. Death of a Bachelor - Panic! At The Disco

  3. Highway to Hell - AC/DC

  4. SICKO MODE - Travis Scott

  5. Do I Wanna Know? - Arctic Monkeys

  6. Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr.

“Poor Jack” is a fun take on the original song from the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas." “Death of a Bachelor” — another Panic! At The Disco song because why not. “Highway to Hell,” an AC/DC classic that also brings energy. “SICKO MODE” features a more current artist in Travis Scott and is great for jamming out with friends. “Do I Wanna Know?” adds a chill and relaxing tone while still being a little spooky. “Ghostbusters” is from the eponymous movie, which is literally about ghost hunting.

  1. Somebody’s Watching Me - Single Version - Michael Jackson, Rockwell

  2. Heads Will Roll - A-Trak Remix - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

  3. Time Warp - Little Nell, Patricia Quinn, Richard O’Brien

  4. Spooky, Scary Skeletons - Undead Tombstone Remix

  5. Monster Mash - Bobby “Boris” Pickett, The Crypt-Kickers

  6. Thriller - Michael Jackson

  7. This Is Halloween - Danny Elfman

Starting off the final days until Halloween is the song “Somebody’s Watching Me.” Michael Jackson has curated a lot of Halloween classics, so there’s no way this one wouldn’t have made the list. “Heads Will Roll” is terrifying while also having a totally danceable beat. “Time Warp” is from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” which is a cult classic Halloween movie and thus needed to be included. “Spooky, Scary Skeletons” features a great beat for partying while also including whimsical touches. “Monster Mash” is a classic Halloween song and is great to sing along with. Halloween isn’t Halloween without “Thriller.” Last but certainly not the least, “This is Halloween” is perfect to play on Oct. 31 because, well, it is Halloween!
