East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) responded to eight home invasions between July 25 and 27, according to ELPD's weekly crime report.

No suspects have been identified and the department cannot confirm that the incidents are connected, according to ELPD Interim Chief Steve Gonzalez.
"We don't have any solid leads that they are connected, but generally when we see something like that, many of them, if not all of them do have a connection," Gonzalez said.
Several of these home invasions occurred at residences with unlocked doors, which Gonzalez said creates a situation for individuals looking for crimes of opportunity.
When a cluster of burglaries occur, Gonzalez said the ELPD Detective Bureau looks at the incidents as a whole rather than individually.
Gonzalez suggests community members lock doors and windows, leave lights on at night, check in on neighbors and use porch lights to prevent break-ins.
Gonzalez could not provide any additional information at this time. However, he said ELPD detectives are currently in the process of finding and reviewing possible surveillance footage from each neighborhood.
