While individual tickets and student season ticket plans have been put on hold, MSU is considering multiple options for seating its season ticket holders in the fall.

According to the press release, Michigan State believes that they will be required to limit the number of people they can seat in the fall. While no plan has been finalized, MSU is considering price adjustments for individual tickets, seat premiums, parking, and a ticket quantity reduction.

In addition, the athletic department will be allowing season ticket holders to receive a refund, defer to the 2021 season, or change their 2020 payment for the season into a tax-free donation to the Spartan Fund for the future. 

"We realize that even with incomplete information, some of our loyal supporters may have already determined that it's in their best interest to forgo attending football games in 2020,” Athletic Director Bill Beekman said. “For those individuals, we have provided options. In doing so, we ask those who are able, consider converting payments made for tickets, seat premiums and parking to a 100% tax-deductible charitable contribution to the Spartan Fund or consider applying payments made to the 2021 season. Doing so will help Spartan Athletics at a most crucial time."

As for where fans may be sitting, Michigan State says they are considering a “reserved by section” plan that would essentially separate groups of fans entering Spartan Stadium into the parties they entered with and distancing them from others groups of fans. With premium seating such as the Sideline Club, the Huntington Club, and the Huntington Club Suites, they will return as normal but with social distancing measures and possible reduction in tickets for those seats.

Parking remains an issue as well as Michigan State is also considering limited parking passes for the upcoming season and also adjusted times for fans entering the lot. According to the press release, the online parking selection process will be canceled as the school decides on how to allocate parking passes.

The upcoming football season still remains in the dark as the athletic department is still waiting to make a decision at this time.

“We do not have a firm timetable on when a decision will be made regarding the 2020 season,” the press release said. “We appreciate your patience and we will communicate as information becomes available.”

While Beekman said no official decisions have been made as to how seating will be officially conducted, he said the athletic department will be updating the Spartan community when they do have concrete solutions.

“There are still many questions to be asked and answered but we will do our best to keep our season ticket holders informed,” Beekman said. “The Big Ten Conference and member institutions have been collaborating for several months to develop plans and scenarios for the football season. Our priority is the health and safety of all student-athletes, coaches, staff, working personnel and our supporters and fans. We are working to finalize plans for reduced capacity in Spartan Stadium and will be able to share details once these critical decisions are made.”
