Michigan State sports to watch over winter break

Several Michigan State sports teams look ahead to games over the Dec. 16-Jan. 3 winter break. Here is a schedule of Spartan sports to look out for over break:

Football

After a disappointing 6-6 season, Michigan State football will look to end their season on a high note in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27.

Dec. 27 vs. Wake Forest in Pinstripe Bowl. (3:20 p.m. EST/ESPN)

Men's basketball

With football coming officially to a close, Men's basketball season has officially begun. Over break, the Spartans will look forward to four in-state rivalry games and three Big Ten games in hopes to improve their 6-3 record as they move into the New Year.

Dec. 14 vs. Oakland University at Little Ceasars Arena. (12 p.m. EST/ESPN2)

Dec. 18 at Northwestern. (8 p.m. EST/BTN)

Dec. 21 vs. Eastern Michigan. (7 p.m. EST/BTN)

Dec. 29 vs. Western Michigan. (6/8 p.m./BTN)

Jan. 2 vs. Illinois. (8 p.m. EST/FS1)

Jan. 5 vs. Michigan. (1/4:30 p.m./CBS)

Women's basketball

Women's basketball (6-2) will play in the Sunshine Challenge in Orlando, Florida over break. Following this, the Spartans will compete in three straight Big Ten games including one against rival Michigan.

Dec. 15 vs. Morehead State. (1 p.m./BTN+)

Dec. 20 vs. Syracruse in Sunshine Challenge. (1:30 p.m.)

Dec. 21 vs. West Virginia in Sunshine Challenge. (1:30 p.m.)

Dec. 28 at Indiana. (6 p.m./BTN)

Dec. 31 vs. Nebraska. (1 p.m./BTN)

Jan. 5 at Michigan. (12 p.m./ESPN2)

Ice hockey

Following a clean sweep against No. 19 Wisconsin, ice hockey (8-7-1) will look to carry this momentum over to their meetings with No. 16/15 Arizona State. The Spartans will also compete in the Great Lakes Invitational in Detroit at Little Ceasers Arena over break.

Dec. 15 vs. Arizona State. (5 p.m.)

Dec. 30 vs. Michigan Tech in Great Lakes Invitational. (1 p.m.)

Dec. 31 vs. Michigan/Ferris State in Great Lakes Invitational. (TBA)

Women's gymnastics

Following their exhibition green and white meet, Women's gymnastics will officially begin their season over break against in-state opponent Western Michigan.

Dec. 14 Green and White meet. (1 p.m.)

Jan. 5 at Western Michigan (1 p.m.)
