—With the end of the Michigan State football regular season comes a new addition to the NCAA Transfer Portal. Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Dimitri Douglas became the latest Spartan — the seventh this season — to put his name into the transfer portal.
Douglas confirmed the news to The State News Friday afternoon.
He joined running backs Connor Heyward and La'Darius Jefferson, linebacker Brandon Bouyer-Randle, wideouts Weston Bridges and Cam Chambers and tight end Noah Davis.
Douglas — a 6-foot-4, 302-pounder from Saline, Michigan — never played in a game for Michigan State. According to 247Sports, Douglas was rated as one of the best offensive tackles in Michigan coming out of high school. He enrolled early before the 2018 season, but was held out of spring practice due to an achilles injury.
The Spartans, who defeated Maryland 19-16 this past Saturday to become bowl eligible for the 12th time under Mark Dantonio, awaits its bowl game destination which will be announced this Sunday.
