In a year where positive news has been seldom for Spartan football, they found some in the form of 2020 receiver Montorie Foster Jr.,who announced his commitment Monday afternoon.
The announcement came via a video on his twitter, where he said he was “Signed, Sealed, delivered…”
An Ohio, St. Edward High School product, Foster isn’t a typical recruit. In fact, Foster played his first high school football this fall.
Before football, Foster was a Division I basketball prospect, who garnered offers from Akron and Eastern Kentucky.
Now, a zero-star receiver, he has excelled in his first and senior year for St. Edward. In his only season the 6-foot-3 newcomer received offers from Akron, Bowling Green and Kent State before committing to Michigan State.
While he doesn’t have a composite ranking, the wideout has been given a three-star ranking from 247sports.com, as well as the 140th ranked receiver in his class and 26th ranked in the state of Ohio.
In his lone year, he has helped lead the Eagles to a 10-1 record and a trip to the Division I regional semifinals in Ohio, this Friday against Euclid.
Becoming the 17th recruit in the Spartans’ 2020 class, Foster will join defensive end and high school teammate Jeff Pietrowski.
