Coming in as the expected preseason No. 1 and coming off a Final Four finish, it is no surprise that Michigan State basketball is the preseason consensus to win the conference.

Ahead of Big Ten basketball media day in Chicago, the Spartans earned the nomination as favorites to win the Big Ten.

Along with his team receiving preseason praise, senior guard Cassius Winston garnered the preseason Big Ten Player of the year nomination after winning the award last season.

Here’s how the complete conference preseason poll turned out, as eight writers from the USA Today Sports network made their picks:

1.     Michigan State

2.     Ohio State

3.     Maryland

4.     Purdue

5.     Michigan

6.     Wisconsin

7.     Illinois

8.     Iowa

9.     Indiana

10.  Penn State

11.  Nebraska

12.  Minnesota

13.  Rutgers

14.  Northwestern
