The East Lansing Police Department is investigating a sexual assault that was reported at 729 E. Grand River Ave., the Phi Gamma Delta, or FIJI, fraternity house.

The sexual assault was reported on Saturday, Sept. 28, homecoming weekend at Michigan State, according to ELPD Deputy Chief Steve Gonzalez.

The member in question has been suspended, Phi Gamma Delta said in a statement.

"When we learned of the incident, we suspended the member in question. We take this allegation very seriously and do not tolerate sexual assault," a Phi Gamma Delta spokesperson said. "When the investigation is complete, we will take any further action needed. Until then, we are cooperating fully with the campus and police investigations.”

Sororities were notified by the Panhellenic Council at MSU to not have any social events with Phi Gamma Delta until further notice.

Gonzalez said there is an open and ongoing investigation and no other information can be released at this time.
