The group originally got their start in 1985 as a joke and became an instant hit. They immediately started selling out venues and have been touring ever since.
The orchestra plays music of all genres ranging from Tchaikovsky to Nirvana, with no instruments beyond the performers' ukuleles and voices.
Their first album was released three years after the group formed and had appeared at multiple organizations, including an appearance on BBC TV and a BBC Radio 1 session. Since then, they have performed in 16 countries, including performances at New York's Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and London's Royal Albert Hall.
The current group is composed of one of the group's founders, an original orchestra member, and nine other members that have joined since the group began playing.
The unexpected musical stylings and British humor at their shows have driven the success of The Ukulele Orchestra as they've toured for the past three decades.
The performance will be held in the Wharton Center's Cobb Great Hall. Tickets start at $19.
