Barrio Tacos — a Cleveland-based restaurant offering custom-made tacos — will be making its way to East Lansing as part of the Center City project.
The restaurant is expected to be one of the tenants of the Center City project and will be built along the south side of Albert Avenue.
Barrio Tacos will bring an exciting new dining option to the city, said East Lansing Planning, Building and Development Director Tim Dempsey.
“They’re very contemporary in their dining options and it sounds like it’s going to be an exciting menu,” Dempsey said.
Barrio Tacos is the third tenant to publicly announce it will set up shop in Center City. Dempsey said there have been conversations with other possible tenants, but nothing else is set in stone yet.
It was announced in November that Foster Coffee — a mid-Michigan coffee start-up — would be the first small business to reside in the development. Target will also house a store within Center City.
The Center City District project is a mixed-use redevelopment project that will include senior housing, mixed-market housing and street-level retail, according to the project’s description.
Dempsey said Barrio Tacos and the Center City Project are scheduled to open during the summer.
