A student driving a moped on campus was killed Tuesday morning after crashing into a salt truck.

Cpt. Doug Monette, the public information officer for the Michigan State University Police Department, told the Lansing State Journal the crash occurred around 7:49 a.m. at the intersection of Shaw Lane and Chestnut Road.

Monette told LSJ there is an open and ongoing investigation into the crash. Police have released no information about the victim.

Shaw Lane between Red Cedar Road and Birch Road was closed for much of Tuesday morning and is now open to traffic.
