Gone are the days of "bounce houses."

Now, we have trampoline parks, and the capital region is getting its very own with Launch Trampoline Park, which will be located in the Meridian Mall. Owner Matt Dalson saw a need for family friendly, all-ages fun after visiting trampoline parks on the East Coast.

“He frequently flew out there,” assistant general manager Peter Terry said of Dalson. “When he would be stuck there on the weekends, he would go to a trampoline park and he had a great time. He would bring his family out there and they loved it.”

After Dalson left his former company, he decided to bring the fun he experienced back home to Michigan. Launch Trampoline Park will open up in early 2019, and Dalson said he can’t wait to be a part of the community.

“We definitely are interested in looking for creative ways that we can give back within the greater Lansing area,” Dalson said.

Terry said the company is reaching out to as many local groups as they can and hopes to be open past normal business hours every day hosting community events. Dalson said he plans to host special events at the park, like fund-raising events for Greek life.

“We’re hoping to create dodgeball leagues and laser tag leagues, some fun activities like that,” Dalson said.

Dalson said they plan on doing can and coat drives for charity. Fitness classes for the elderly and yoga will also be offered, Terry said.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing the results,” Terry said.

Veterinary medicine freshman Shaun Goulet said he’s excited for a new business to open up in the area.

“I’ve been to some trampoline parks in the past and I think it’s a good, fun pastime as long as you have supervision,” Goulet said. “I think it would add to the community a little bit, too.”

Correction: The owner's name is Matt Dalson, not Dalton.
