Michigan State ranked 18th in latest College Football Playoff rankings

After Michigan State football jumped back into the AP Top 25 writers poll at No. 24 Sunday, the team entered a new poll for the first time this season Tuesday night.

The Spartans (6-3, 4-2 in Big Ten) are ranked 18th in the second edition of the College Football Playoff rankings.

Coach Mark Dantonio's team is coming off a 24-3 win over Maryland (5-4, 3-3) and limited the Terrapins to a season-low 100 total offensive yards, while rushing for a season-high 269 yards.

Other Big Ten teams in the playoff rankings are No. 4 Michigan (8-1, 6-0), No. 10 Ohio State (8-1, 5-1), No. 20 Penn State (6-3, 3-3) and No. 21 Iowa (6-3, 3-3).
