MSU's University Activities Board (UAB) will present a free screening of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" Oct. 26. This year marks the return of their costume contest and students will be provided with free popcorn and prop bags for the interactive show.

“I want people to come out and have fun before Halloween weekend,” said Brandon Crawford UAB Event Director. “We’re hoping that we get the turnout, that people can be themselves, make friends and have a good time.”

UAB has continued the tradition of showing "Rocky Horror" for the past couple of years. They’re partnering with the Residence Halls Association and Wharton Center students in the hopes of making this year's event bigger and better.

With the costume contest, students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite "Rocky Horror" character. There will be prizes for winners, including two tickets to a showing of “Fiddler on the Roof” at the Wharton Center.

“It’s always fun to see how all out people will go,” UAB Music Director Legan Rose said. “We have had girls show up in their underwear as one of the characters or guys in spandex. There are some dedicated Rocky Horror Fans out there, and we love that they come.”

The movie will be accompanied by a shadow cast, a student group of actors who reenact the film simultaneously during the screening.

Rose said the premise of "Rocky Horror" revolves around it being a very interactive show. There will be prop bags provided and cues during the movie for the audience's participation.

Admission is free and the show will take place at 9 p.m. in Wells B115.
