Three Big Ten teams rank above MSU — No. 4 Wisconsin, No. 5 Ohio State and No. 10 Penn State. The only other Big Ten team to rank behind Mark Dantonio's team is the University of Michigan at No. 14.
MSU is also No. 12 in the USA Today Coaches preseason poll. Three Big Ten teams are above MSU in the coaches poll — No. 3 Ohio State, No. 7 Wisconsin and No. 9 Penn State. U-M is also the only team to rank behind the Spartans at No. 14.
