Two incoming freshmen Spartan hockey players were selected in this year’s NHL Entry Draft.

Twin brothers Christian and Cole Krygier, who both played defense for the Lincoln Stars of the USHL last season, were both selected in the seventh round of the draft.

Christian was selected by the New York Islanders and Cole by the Florida Panthers. Christian was pick no. 196 and Cole was pick no. 201.

The Krygier twins were originally headed to the University of Wisconsin, but were released from their National Letters of Intent and committed to MSU last April.

Their father Todd Krygier spent nine seasons in the NHL as a forward, playing for the Hartford Whalers, the Washington Capitals and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Their older brother Brock Krygier spent three years on the blue line at MSU from 2012-2015.
