Freshman forward Mitchell Lewandowski named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and named to the Big Ten Hockey All-Freshman team. Sophomore forward Taro Hirose received Second Team All-Big Ten and senior defenseman Carson Gatt received an honorable mention All-Big Ten.
Lewandowski led the Spartans and all freshmen nationally this season with a tally of 19 goals with eight of those goals on the power play. Along with teammates Hirose and sophomore forward Patrick Khodorenko, they produced 44 percent of the team's points this season.
Hirose led the Spartans in points this season with a total of 42 points, 12 goals and led the team with 30 assists.
Gatt, who played in his final season in a Spartan uniform, led the blue-liners with four goals and 15 assists this past season beating his career-best of 12 points. This is his second season in a receiving an honorable mention.
The South Lyon native also earned the Spartans' Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
The Spartans ended their season on March 3 after being swept in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament by the Ohio State University Buckeyes.
