DETROIT — As Little Caesars Arena is brought in numerous college basketball fans from all around the country, but many still enjoy a nice drink or two with family and friends at Detroit's restaurants and bars.
Numerous Spartan fans were seen across the Motor City including local restaurants and bars such as Hockeytown Cafe, State Bar, Cliff Bells and Cheli’s Chili Bar.
Although once the games were underway more and more fans started to disperse towards the arena, few were left behind watching the game from a table.
MSU alumnus Frank Groen said it was cool to hear a lot of “Go Green and Go White” chants, comradery and seeing everyone excited to see the games inside LCA.
“Inside the arena — obviously we’re not in the game now — but at the earlier games it was just kind of a lot going on with different side conversations everywhere,” Groen said.
Detroit native Cody Carlson said at bars and restaurants you "get more games to watch, better access to bathrooms, drinks and foods."
“Come and go when you want, you don’t have to worry about a million people getting in and out of the aisles, but you also lose out on the game atmosphere,” Carlson said. “You know if you’re watching State, the “Go Greens, Go Whites” and the comradery of people that root for the same team as you.”
