Musical 'Waitress' coming to MSU's Wharton Center

January 11, 2018

The Wharton Center announced the Sara Bareilles musical "Waitress" will be performed in Wharton Center's Cobb Great Hall from Jan. 23-28 as part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center Series. Tickets are available at the Wharton Center's website, at the Auto-Owners Insurance Ticket Office at Wharton center, or by calling 1-800-WHARTON.

Produced by an all-female creative team, this new play features original songs by six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles and a book by screenwriter Jessie Nelson. It's directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus.

"Waitress" is inspired by Adrienne Shelly's film of the same title. It tells the story of small town waitress and pie maker Jenna, who feels trapped in a loveless marriage, until a nearby baking contest and the town doctor give her a chance to leave her old life behind.
