An armed robbery, currently under investigation by East Lansing Police, occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, at Subway near Grand River Avenue and River Street.
The suspect, an unknown male wearing an orange ski mask and a pair of ski goggles, entered as employees were closing the restaurant, East Lansing Police Lt. Chad Connelly said. The suspect had a handgun, victims reported.
The suspect demanded employees open cash registers, Connelly said. The suspect then fled south on Grand River Avenue, according to an MSUPD alert.
The two victims, Subway employees, fled out the back door safely and no injuries were reported, Connelly said. There were no other reports matching the suspect’s description Tuesday night.
Monday night, an unknown male fled a Subway in Delhi Charter Township, Michigan, with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect in Delhi wore clothing similar to the suspect in East Lansing, Connelly said.
“Our detective bureau is currently actively investigating it, they’re also probably going to be contacting some local jurisdictions in the surrounding area,” Connelly said. “They’re going to be actively working to try to figure out if these are related, and if so, if there are any leads or not.”
