Le’Veon Bell, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: Bell and the Steelers took on the then-undefeated Kansas City Chiefs and came away with a victory, thanks to Bell who rushed for 179 yards on 32 carries and a touchdown. Bell would also have three catches for 12 receiving yards in the Steelers' fourth win of the season.

Kirk Cousins, QB, Washington Redskins: Cousins led the Redskins to a 26-24 win over the winless San Francisco 49ers, throwing for 330 yards and two touchdowns and an interception with a 67.6 completion percentage. Cousins would also run for four attempts for 26 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Trae Waynes, CB, Minnesota Vikings: Waynes and the Vikings beat the Packers 23-10 on Sunday, as the former Spartan picked off Packers backup quarterback Brett Hundley once. The Vikings would intercept Hundley a total of three times on the afternoon. Waynes also ended with six total tackles.

MSU Madness this Friday

The women’s and men’s basketball teams will be hosting its annual MSU Madness this Friday night. Admission to the event is free.

The event begins at 8:30 p.m. and will start with players and coaches from both squads signing autographs on the concourse of the Breslin Center.

After autographs, the teams will introduce themselves to Spartan nation and then will each host team scrimmages. There will also be performances by the MSU Marching Band and drumline, MSU cheerleaders, MSU dance team and Sparty.

No. 1 recruit of Class of 2019 chooses MSU as one of his final eight schools

Five-star power forward recruit for the class of 2019 Vernon Carey Jr. narrowed Tom Izzo's team to his final eight schools of where he wants to attend.

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound prospect is the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2019, according to 247Sports.

Izzo currently has no commits for the class of 2019, but does have five commits for the class of 2018.

Volleyball breaks even over the weekend

The No. 10 Spartans went 1-1 this weekend, failing to No. 2 Penn State, 3-1, while sweeping Rutgers on Saturday, 3-0.

Outside hitter Autumn Bailey led the Spartans in kills this weekend with 27. The Spartans had a total of 101 kills this weekend.

The 13-4 Spartans will next play the 13-7 Wolverines Wednesday at 7 p.m. in East Lansing. That game will air on ESPNU as part of "Jam Jenison." The Spartans will then play the Maryland Terrapins Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in College Park and will air on BTN2GO.

Men’s soccer moves down three spots in rankings; Tuesday night game canceled

The Spartans moved down three spots in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, making them now No. 9 in the nation. 

MSU’s game against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Tuesday night was mutually canceled because of conflicts that would impact student-athlete welfare.

The Golden Grizzlies had their game against Detroit Mercy on Saturday canceled because of rainy weather conditions and rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 16. The game between the Spartans and the Golden Grizzlies will not be rescheduled this season.

The now 10-2-2 Spartans will next play the 5-9 Northwestern Wildcats this Friday in Evanston at 8:30 p.m. 

Also, Damon Rensing and his team did this after their 1-0 win over Penn State last Saturday.

MSU women’s soccer beats U-M 2-1, prepares for end of season stretch

The MSU women’s soccer team got its second Big Ten win of the season on Sunday afternoon, downing in-state rival University of Michigan, 2-1.

The Spartans were led by forwards Lexy Warner and Kristelle Yewah, who each scored a goal in the contest.

MSU will look to build off this as it looks to take on the Maryland Terrapins Saturday at 7 p.m. in College Park, then will host its senior day next Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Northwestern.

Field Hockey splits weekend series with No. 18 Rutgers, Indiana

The field hockey team split its weekend series with No. 18 Rutgers and Indiana, losing to the Scarlet Knights 3-2 on Oct. 13, while beating the Hoosiers by the same score on Oct. 15.

The 8-8 Spartans will next play the No. 22 Iowa Hawkeyes Friday at 3 p.m. in East Lansing, and then will finish their regular season on Sunday against No. 9 Northwestern at 1 p.m. in Evanston, Illinois.

Men’s golf places sixth in Crooked Stick Invitational

The men’s golf team placed sixth in the Crooked Stick Invitational in Carmel, Indiana and shot 14-over-par or 878 total strokes for the tournament.

Senior Michael Sharp shot a hole-in-one on hole No. 13 in the first round of the Crooked Stick Invitational.

After the Crooked Stick Invitational, the Spartans will play in their final tournament of fall, playing in the Quail Valley Intercollegiate down in Vera Beach, Florida from Oct. 23-24.

Women’s golf places 10th in Tar Heel Invitational

The MSU women’s golf team tied for 10th place at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational this past weekend, shooting 8-over-par or 872 total strokes from Oct. 13-15.

The Spartans will play their final tournament of the fall in the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, North Carolina, Oct. 27-29.

Men’s tennis set to face off in ITA Midwest Regionals

The men’s tennis team is set to play in the ITA Midwest Regionals in Ann Arbor from Oct. 19-22. This is the second to last tournament of the season for the Spartans.

After the ITA Midwest Regionals, MSU will play in the Big Ten Indoors in East Lansing from Oct. 27-29.

Women’s tennis finishes up ITA Midwest Regionals, preparing for last tournament of season

The MSU women’s tennis team is coming off a four day tournament in the form of the ITA Midwest Regionals from Oct. 12-15.

The Spartans will finish out the fall in Louisville, Kentucky in the Louisville Invite from Nov. 3-5.
