Miles Bridges and Nick Ward earn Big Ten preseason honors

Miles Bridges was named the Preseason Big Ten Player of the Year by the Big Ten Thursday morning.


Bridges is coming off a freshman season in which he averaged 16.9 points per game, 8.3 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game in 28 games, winning Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Big Ten.

Bridges, along with forward Nick Ward, were also named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team. Ward averaged 13.9 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game in 35 games with the Spartans.


The Big Ten also announced the Big Ten schedule will also expanded from 18 games to 20 games next season, making teams play seven other teams twice and six teams once. 

Three in-state rivalries will also be insured that they play twice during the season starting in the 2018-19 season, including MSU vs. the University of Michigan. The other two in-state rivalries that will be protected for two games a year is Northwestern-Illinois and Indiana-Purdue.
