Kaleel Gaines, a rising redshirt-sophomore, has left the MSU football program, a team spokesperson confirmed to The State News Friday.

According to @JuCoFootballACE on Twitter, Gaines is headed to Arizona Western College, a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, or NJCAA.

Gaines played on both sides of the ball in the 2017 spring game as a wide receiver and a cornerback.

After redshirting the 2015 season, the 6-foot, 194-pound Gaines was active for the 2016 season. However, he appeared in just one game, against Rutgers Nov. 12, 2016.

Starting with the 2017 season, Gaines has three more years of eligibility remaining.
