Freshman midfielder Sadie Misiewicz (24) attempts to dribble past Bowling Green defender Alexis Fricke (8) during the game against Bowling Green State University on March 25, 2017 at DeMartin Stadium. The Spartans defeated the Falcons, 5-1.

Junior Jamie Cheslik scored her first goal by dribbling through the legs of a BGSU defender and shot at the right portion of the net past the BGSU goalie to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.

Then towards the end of the half, Cheslik scored her second goal of the game but scored on the bounce back from her first attempt was blocked by BGSU’s goalie.

Minutes into the second half, fellow junior forward Kristelle Yewah scored MSU’s third goal of the afternoon, with her shot getting hitting the bottom left corner of the net.

Bowling Green had opportunities to score, however, including a nice shot from the left side from Falcon’s 5-foot-5 redshirt-sophomore forward Erica Hubert, hit the middle of the top crossbar, just out of the reach of redshirt-junior goalie Savanna Wojtanowski.

This continued into the second half as the Falcons had opportunities off of several corner kicks, that were stopped by redshirt freshman goalie Reiley Ott, who came into the game for Wojtanowski in the second half, who allowed the Falcons’ lone goal of the game late in the second half.

Bowling Green then had several opportunities up close, including a shot that went by Ott but went off the bottom right part of the crossbar.

Cheslik then completed the hat trick towards the halfway mark of the second half, leading to her being substituted out for the remainder of the game.

Not long after, Yewah scored her second goal of the game and was substituted out for the remainder of the game and replaced by redshirt sophomore forward Kristy Gomez.

MSU will take it’s 1-0-0 record into next week when they play either Central Michigan and Saginaw Valley State on April 1. Start time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
