No. 5 power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. commits to MSU for 2017

Tom Izzo is continuing to work his 2017 recruiting magic. Four-star power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. announced his commitment to MSU Thursday.

Jackson Jr. is currently rated the No. 5 power forward on the ESPN top 100.

The 6-foot-10, 225-pound power forward currently plays high school basketball for La Lumiere in LaPorte, Ind. During his junior season at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis, Jackson averaged 16.1 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game.

"I want to thank everyone who has supported me and contributed to where I am today," Jackson said on Twitter. "I'm blessed to have a strong family circle that includes my parents, grandmother, and a bunch of aunts, uncles and cousins. They give me guidance on how to be the best version of myself as a person and a player." 

Jackson selected MSU over other schools including: Kansas, Indiana, University of Michigan Michigan, Purdue, Illinois, Maryland and Notre Dame.

He is the second-best player in Indiana behind Kris Wilkes, according to ESPN. 

Jackson is the first commit for the recruiting class of 2017.
