The MSU women's basketball team unveiled their regular season schedule in a press release earlier this week. The Spartans play a total of 29 games on their schedule as they look to improve on their 25-9 record from the 2015-16 season.

Last year's team advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, but fell to then-No. 5 Mississippi State to end their season. This season they will return three of their starting five — senior guard Tori Jankoska, redshirt-junior guard Branndais Agee and junior guard Morgan Green

The Spartans will kick off their schedule with a home exhibition game against Northwood University on Nov. 6 at Breslin Center. They will begin their regular season schedule against Davidson College on Nov. 11.

After three home games to start off the season, the team will finish the rest of November on the road. They travel to Eugene, Ore. to face the University of Oregon on Nov. 22. The Spartans will continue their west coast swing in Northridge, Calif. in the Cal State Northridge Tournament Nov. 25 to 26.

To finish the month of November, the team will head to New York to take on last year's national runner-up, Syracuse University. The game is scheduled for Nov. 30 as part of the ACC/Big Ten challenge. The Spartans have a 5-4 all-time record in the series.

December will be much less busy for the team as they only play five games the entire month. Fans will get an opportunity to see Northeastern University at Breslin on Dec. 18 as a part of a doubleheader between the men's and women's basketball teams.

The Spartans finish their non-conference schedule on Dec. 20, when they welcome the University of Notre Dame into town.

With conference play set to begin, the schedule receives a slight shakeup. The Big Ten will be returning to a 16-game conference schedule, compared to the 18 games the teams had to play the past two years.

The Spartans open up Big Ten play on Jan. 1 against the University of Illinois at Breslin. MSU is only scheduled to face in-state rival  University of Michigan once during the regular season. The game will be played in Ann Arbor on Feb. 19.

Big Ten play takes up the months of January and February for the team, with the final regular season game against the University of Nebraska on Feb. 26 in Lincoln, Neb.

After the regular season concludes, the next step for the Spartans is the Big Ten Tournament. The annual showdown will be held from March 1-5 in Indianapolis at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
