MSU police are reported an assault at about 8:20 p.m. Jan. 21.

A female got off the bus near the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum and was confronted by a man who asked her some questions and subsequently shoved her. The victim called the police, who found the suspect lunging towards pedestrians and cars near Division Street. The suspect was arrested for assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

Here are the rest of the crimes reported by MSU police Capt. Doug Monette.

Burglary

A female student was in her room in McDonel Hall with the door unlocked around 8 p.m. Jan. 18, when a person came in and began going through her drawers. The student said something and the suspect ran. The case is still open.

Larceny

Around 8 p.m. Jan. 18, a subject in IM Sports-West reported they had their wallet stolen while playing racquetball. The subject reportedly left their belongings outside the courts. The case is still open.

Resisting arrest

Around 10 a.m. Jan. 18, an MSU police officer made a traffic stop on Shaw Lane near the Dairy Store parking lot. The officer walked up to the car, but the subject would not roll down their window and reportedly had something in their hand.

The subject then reversed into the officer’s car and drove off. The subject was stopped by another officer, who was able to arrest the individual for resisting arrest, hit-and-run and damage to police property. The individual is not a student and has been ordered not to enter MSU’s campus. This case was sent to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
