January 15, 2016

The 14th annual Mid-Winter Singing Festival will take place Jan. 29-30 at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing with events scheduled for both days.

Hundreds are expected to gather and sing together during the event, according to a press release.

The event kicks off Friday evening with singing of a wide variety of favorite songs led by Joe MabusFrank Youngman and Mary Sue Wilkinson.

Events for Saturday include a children's concert at 11 a.m., the option to attend an eight hour singing workshop and a sing-along with the movie "The Sound of Music" at 8 p.m.

The event will create a special environment because of the involvement of audience participation, according a the press release for the event.

According to the press release, "At other festivals, the performers perform and the audience listens. At this festival, both at the two evening community sings and the Saturday workshops, the audience songs every song with song leaders."
