Here are the most important stories from the week of June 26. 

The Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriages must be recognized as legal in all 50 states. Following the announcement, Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum announced that the office would extend their hours to help serve any couples looking to get married, waiving the state required 3-day waiting period for a marriage license.

Former MSU basketball player Branden Dawson was drafted in the second round by the New Orleans Pelicans and then traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Former MSU track star Leah O’Connor has signed with Adidas and will try and qualify for the IAAF World Championships in Beijing later this August.

East Lansing City Council has proposed an ordinance that will prohibit the recreational use of roofs in the city.

The Isabella County Prosecutor’s Office will not be filing any criminal charges based on the allegations of former softball player Alyssa McBride. McBride claimed that assistant coach Jessica Bograkos targeted her with pitches during several batting practices. MSU will still investigate the claims against the softball coaching staff.
