An MSU student has been selected as one of 14 students nationwide to receive a scholarship offering the opportunity to pursue a graduate degree from Churchill College at the University of Cambridge in England.
Electrical engineering senior David Zoltowski is a member of the Honors College as well as captain of the varsity swimming and diving team. He plans on studying philosophy in information engineering at Churchill College.
“I am honored to be named a Churchill Scholar and look forward to making the most of my experience at Cambridge in all areas of life,” Zoltowski said in a statement. “I want to thank all members of the MSU community who have supported me in my endeavors.”
Ninety students from nearly 60 different universities applied for the prestigious 2015-2016 Churchill Scholarship Program, with the average GPA of the group estimated at 4.129. Zoltowski had a GPA of 4.0 and is the seventeenth MSU student to be awarded the Churchill Scholarship.
“David is determined to create, lead and catalyze change in engineering,” Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore, dean of the Honors College said in a statement. “He truly wants to contribute to the study of the brain and make significant advances in autism from an engineering perspective, which is a topic near and dear to him given that his triplet brother has autism.”
During his time at MSU, David received the MSU Honors College National Scholarship and was a member of MSU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council and multiple honors fraternities.
