Six MSU athletes will be inducted into the university's Athletics Hall of Fame on Sept. 18, as part of the "Celebrate 2014" weekend.
Those inducted includes football players Flozell Adams and Carl "Buck" Nystrom, tennis player Sue Selke, softball and basketball player Kathy Strahan, wrestler Greg Johnson and gymnast Dave Thor.
"We're excited about inducting another elite class into the MSU Athletics Hall of Fame," Michigan State Athletics Director Mark Hollis said in statement. "We really look forward to the unique opportunity to celebrate the achievement of student-athletes being awarded their first varsity letter jacket in conjunction with honoring our best of the best with the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This is one of my favorite weekends of the fall."
Adams played football for MSU in the seasons of 1994-97. In his senior year he was awarded the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year.
In the wrestling seasons of 1969-72, Johnson won 90 percent of his matches and was the first wrestler in Big Ten history to win three national championships.
Nystrom played football with MSU through their 1953 Big Ten title, 1955 national championship and two Rose Bowl victories.
Selke, who played MSU tennis in the seasons of 1972-75, scored three Big Ten individual titles at No. 1 singles and won 92 percent of her career matches.
Along with earning MSU's Outstanding Softball Athlete in 1978, Strahan led the teams in runs scored and triples in the 1976 softball season.
Thor played for MSU in the seasons of 1966 to '68, during which he earned three Big Ten all-around champion awards.
