East Lansing Police detective Sgt. Andrew Bouck received the 2013 Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, or MACP, Distinguished Service Medal on Tuesday.
The award was for leading the task force responsible for apprehending Oswald Scott Wilder in 2013.
Sgt. Bouck was given command of the task force consisting of East Lansing officers, Michigan State University police and Michigan State police. He also involved the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center to help in investigating all local sex offenders and help gather tips.
Bouck also led the activation one of Michigan’s Virtual Command Centers housed in the ELPD Detective Bureau. More than 40 local sex offenders were investigated and 50 tips were tracked, prioritized and assigned under Bouck’s command.
With the help of the Michigan State Police Behavioral Science Unit, a criminal profile was developed and in early August 2013 Wilder was identified as a suspect. Bouck focused the task force on tracking Wilder and bringing him into custody on August 23, 2013.
