Eastpoint Townlets on 1732 Cambria Drive caught fire Saturday.
Ryan Romey, area director of DTN Management, said only one unit was affected by the fire. There were heavy smoke damages, but the bedroom — where the fire started — suffered the most with a hole in the floor.
The occupants were not home, but residents from another unit heard smoke detectors sounding and called the fire department, he said.
“Thankfully nobody was hurt. The two residents that lived there are safe and sound and have been relocated to another (DTN) residence,” Romey said.
The occupants only had a month left on their lease, he said, so they’ll stay relocated. No other residents were displaced.
When a property owned by DTN has a fire, Romey said the first step is making sure the residents of the unit or building affected have not been harmed and then finding them new accommodations if they are not able to stay in their homes.
From there, the Chief Financial Officer is sent to assess what the damages are followed by the process of getting the area cleaned up and getting contractors to make repairs.
To Romey’s knowledge, this is the first fire in that specific building.
The cause of the fire and the estimated cost of damages are unknown.
